MCT

MCT for Not Yet Techies

This certification is pretty much the same.

You still have to demonstrate instructional
ability through Microsoft or having another,
recognized teaching certification.

You also have to have taken and passed the
test for which you are teaching the class for,
so you must be an MCP for that subject.

You are also required to keep your Microsoft
Certified Teacher title up to date by teaching
and evaluating at least 15 students in an
annual period, completing an online application
every October and paying an annual fee.

MCSE+I
This updates the article at:

MCSE+I for Not Yet Techies

Microsoft has chosen to discontinue this certification,
which was basically the old NT 4.0 MCSE plus another
test or two covering Internet technologies.

Microsoft has now integrated the Internet into its
networking operating systems and other technologies
so much that there's no longer any need for this
separate credential.

Basically, it's now assumed that networking includes
Internet access and anyone working with Windows (or
any other network operating system) should also
know about Internet-related technologies, so all that
is built in.

MCSE 2000
This updates the article at:

MCSE 2000 for Not Yet Techies

The current version of MCSE is for Windows Server 2003, so
what was known as MCSE 2000 is now out of date. Holders
of that certification should get recertified by upgrading
to the current knowledge base.

You can do that taking and passing two exams:

Exam 70-292: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Environment for an MCSA Certified on Windows 2000
Exam 70-296: Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment for an MCSE Certified on Windows 2000

MCSD

MCSD Certification for Not Yet Techies

The major change here has come with the introduction of
Microsoft's .NET Framework and the many changes and
additions associated with it. It's a comprehensive
plan that encompasses all their software.

They came out with a very different version of Visual
Basic -- now called VB.NET -- for it. Plus created two
new languages, C# (C Sharp) and J# (J Sharp) for it, to
attract C and Java programmers.

So software development using Microsoft technologies is
now much different than it was prior to .NET.

You must pass 3 required core tests and 1 elective.
