CompTIA A+
One of the frustrating things about being a writer about IT subjects is that they do change so fast. Technology is constantly changing. New terms come along, old terms fade into the sunset.

I've occasionally had a high tech company write me concerning out of date information on their "for Not Yet Techies" page. I can't blame them, and I update it when they write me, but constantly changing every single one of more over 600 pages every time a company changes the number of a certification test . . . folks, I don't have much of a "life" as the word is currently used, but I do have to eat and sleep to at least continue breathing, and also wish to expand my online activities.

However, now that I've started this blog, it does seem the ideal way to update the information in both my book Secrets of Changing to a Computer Career and my web site. It's also convenient to work on when I'm traveling (as I am now) and do not have access to my own web site!

One high tech term that has to keep changing with the time is the CompTIA A+ certification.

After all, it's about repairing and upgrading PCs, and we all know they keep changing.

CompTIA brought out the latest version of its A+ examinations on November 26, 2003. They describe the additions as "not major," but do say it now covers DSL, cable, latest memory, peripherals, the ME and XP operating systems etc.

The last time CompTIA upgraded the exams was in 2001. The new exams cover all 2001 material plus the new material. Both the A+ Core Hardware Exam: 220-301 and A+ OS Technologies Exam: 220-302 were upgraded.
