All the certifications I listed in this article
are now kaput. IBM has re-organized its certifications
quite a bit to match changes in its hardware and
technologies.
So there are a lot of certifications regarding IBM
hardware but it makes more sense to write about them
in the context of their more specific names.
I have already done that in some cases, in other
articles on my web site. Others are to come in
the future. And I'll be keeping up as best as I
can with changes on this blog.

This replaces the IBM Certified Specialist: AS/400
Associate System Operator and IBM Certified Specialist

II. IBM Certified Specialist - iSeries System Administration V5R2
This replaces the IBM Certified Specialist - AS/400 System
Administrator certification.
You must pass Test 355: iSeries System Administration V5R2
71 multiple choice questions in 90 minutes. 62% is the passing
score
IBM still has the IBM Certified Specialist - AS/400 RPG IV Programmer
and IBM Certified Specialist - AS/400 RPG IV Developer certifications,
but nothing else covering AS/400.
IBM AIX Certifications

Prerequisite -- 3 months experience with AIX
Requirement -- Pass Test 190: AIX Basic Operations V5

II. IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries AIX System Administration
Prerequisite: Minimum of six months experience administering in an
AIX V4 system environment. One year of AIX or UNIX user experience.
Training in AIX system administration or equivalent experience.
Requirement: Pass Test 191 -- pSeries AIX System Administration
III. IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries AIX System Support
Recommended Prerequisites --
At least 6 months experience providing AIX Support
1-2 years AIX or UNIX experience
Training and/or experience in advanced systems administration
Training and/or experience in TCP/IP and AIX Performance Tuning
Requirement -- Pass Test 199: IBM Certified
Specialist - pSeries AIX System Support
IV. IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries Administration and
Support for AIX 5L V5.2
Prerequisites: 6 months AIX administrative and support experience
for multiple users using AIX 5L V5.2 Maintenance Level 3. Also,
12 months of AIX 5L and/or UNIX experience.
Requirement: Pass Test 232 -- pSeries Administration and
Support for AIX 5L V5.2
90 multiple choice questions in 120 minutes with at least
60% correct
V. IBM Certified Systems Expert - pSeries HACMP for AIX 5L
Required Prerequisite: IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries
Administration and Support for AIX 5L v5.2
Recommended Prerequisites: 3-6 years experience with HACMP and
extensive AIX and pSeries experience
Requirement: pass Test 237 -- pSeries HACMP for AIX 5L
82 multiple choice questions in 90 minutes -- passing score
is 55 correct
VI. IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert - pSeries and AIX 5L
Required Prerequisite:
Certification as:
IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries Administration and Support for AIX 5L v5.2
or
IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries AIX System Administration
or
IBM Certified Specialist - pSeries AIX System Support
Recommended Prerequisite: At least six months in-depth experience
within pSeries AIX.
