.NET Commerce Server for Not Yet Techies

The current version is Microsoft Commerce Server
2002. However, they are planning for the next
version to be released in 2006 -- Microsoft
Commerce Server 2006.

Of course, Microsoft Commerce Server 2006
will be bigger, better and more improved than
ever over the current version.

Commerce Server 2002 comes in four different editions:
Evaluation, Developer, Standard and Enterprise. You can
get the Service Pack 3 from Microsoft.

COM+ for Not Yet Techies

On its website for COM technologies, Microsoft
says that COM+ is part of Windows and will
continue to be supported with the version
of Windows it is in. That sounds like they
could be planning to leave it out of future
versions of Windows.

However, they also go on to clearly say that
COM+ will be part of the long-planned new
version of Windows, Longhorn.

Otherwise, nothing seems to have happened
with this technology for years.
