Sun MicroSystems released a new exam for the Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD) for the Java 2.0 Platform, Enterprise Edition 1.4. This (CX-310-081) includes new questions. It contains 61 questions and has a 120 minute time limit.

There are now six Java certifications available from Sun MicroSystems. The other five are:

Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform (SCJP)
Sun Certified Developer for the Java 2 Platform (SCJD)
Sun Certified Business Component Developer for the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (SCBCD)
Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (SCEA)
Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer for the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (SCMAD)

For the SCJP, you must pass one exam. The latest is:

Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform 1.4 (CX-310-035)

For the SCJD, you must take two steps:

1. Pass the exam Sun Certified Developer for Java 2 Platform, Programming Assignment (CX-310-252A) -- a programming assignment

2. Sun Certified Developer for Java 2 Platform, Essay Exam (CX-310-027) -- pass this essay exam.

For the SCBCD, you must pass this exam:

Sun Certified Business Component Developer for Java 2 Platform 1.3 (CX-310-090)

For the SCEA, you must take three steps:

1. Take and pass the Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology, Knowledge-based Multiple Choice Exam (CX-310-051)

2. Take and pass the Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology, Assignment (CX-310-300A)

3. Take and pass the Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology, Essay Exam

For the SCMAD, you must take and pass this exam:

Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer for the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (CX-310-110)
