This updates the article at:

EDP Certification for Not Yet Techies

EDP certification / Electronic Document
Professional, from Xplor International is
different from almost all other IT
certifications. There is no test to pass.
You basically must convince Xplor that you
meet the professional standards they require.

The steps are:

1. Have a minimum of 5 years employment in the
electronic document systems industry.

2. Show a committment to continuous learning by
earning 100 education credits -- such as from
college, seminars, professional courses or other
certifications.

3. Accept the EDP Code of Ethics.

4. Complete the application and pay the application
fee of $50.

5. You'll be assigned an EDP mentor to guide you
through the process.

6. Submit a portfolio of 3 work samples to demonstrate
your knowledge in the field.

7. Pay the Portfolio fee of $300.

8. All this must be done by June 1 of any given year.

9. You'll receive a decision by August 15.

10. To retain your EDP certification, you must get
recertified over five-year cycles. This is done by
taking and giving additional education.

If you are in the electronic document systems industry,
you'll want to get your EDP certification.
