Biometrics is not something those of us who like to
think of ourselves as libertarians like to think
about - or to see making progress in the future.
Unfortunately, biometrics is not going away.

The field is progressing. As technology
improves, all over the world governments are
working hard to create security systems and identity
cards. If they have their way, biometrics is going
to create a world where nobody can ever be
anonymous -- or recreate themselves.

There are upsides and downsides, of course, to
biometrics. I understand the security aspect -- I
don't want known terrorists boarding planes with
bombs, any more than any other sane person does.

But I also don't want to be constantly tracked
and monitored by a government or anybody who thinks
they have the right to know where I am at all times --
and this is the potential for biometrics.
