Sun recently announced that it was releasing the code for Solaris to the
Open Source Initiative-approved Common Development and Distribution
License (CDDL) for OpenSolaris. This OpenSolaris program is
the largest release of patent innovations released to the Open Source
movement to date. Sun has announced it is granting access to over
1,600 of its patents.

Solaris 10 is the latest version, but the certifications are not yet
updated for it.

Sun Microsystems currently offers 3 certifications for
its Solaris operating system:

1. Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris Operating System
2. Sun Certified Network Administrator for the Solaris Operating System
3. Sun Certified Security Administrator for the Solaris Operating System

The Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris Operating System is a
prerequisite for the Network Administrator credential.

To get the Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris Operating
System:

1. Pass the Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris 9 Operating
System CX-310-014 exam.

2. Pass the Sun Certified System Administrator for the Solaris 9 Operating
System CX-310-015 exam.

To get the Sun Certified Network Administrator for the Solaris Operating
System:

Pass the Sun Certified Network Administrator for the Solaris 9 Operating
System CX-310-044 exam.

To get the Sun Certified Security Administrator for the Solaris Operating
System:

Pass the Sun Certified Security Administrator for the Solaris 9
Operating System CX-310-301 exam.
