CompTIA Network+

CompTIA's effort to create a foundational and
cross-platform networking specific certification
appears to have worked. Network+ is accepted as
a good beginning in learning fundamental networking
concepts.
It is where beginners should start, before learning
the specific details of vendor operation systems
such as Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 or Novell's
NetWare.
According to CompTIA, over 135,000 people have the
Network+ credential since it became available in
1999.
The current exam dates from January 31, 2002.
On November 29, 2004 CompTIA announced the release of
the Beta version of the 2005 upgrade.
