ABAP/4
ABAP/4 for Not Yet Techies
Since I wrote this article years ago, little has changed except ERP software is no longer the "in" thing. Recently, the German company SAP has come out with an object oriented language extension to ABAP/4 called "ABAP Objects." So far, little is generally known about it. I cannot even find any information on SAP's own web site.
It's evident that anybody wishing to become a programmer/developer today should understand object oriented programming. The following article is just the beginning of what you need to know:
Object Oriented Programming for Not Yet Techies
You may be an expert in C or regular ABAP but obviously in the future chances are good you will have to write a program that interacts with an ABAP Objects or C++ or Java or Ruby or Python or Smalltalk or one of many up and coming new languages -- all of which are object oriented.
